Augustine Obeng

Augustine Obeng is a writer, educator, and community leader from the Jane and Finch area. He graduated from the University of Toronto’s Masters of Social Work with a specialization in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency.

Augustine has spent over a decade working with disenfranchised and marginalized groups in inner-city Toronto, as well as on Indigenous Reserves in Canada. Based on his work over the years, with youth from these various communities, as well as the experiences he gained, he was inspired to write his first book, Changing Lanes: The First XXV. Augustine currently works as an advocate for Education and Literacy; mentoring Youth to build capacity and the belief within themselves that all things are possible, with hard work, dedication, and most importantly a positive attitude.

“Remember it's never too late to be Changing Lanes” (Obeng, 2016).
